Continuing Education (CE) Providers

The CDMS Commission believes that individuals certified (CDMSs) or designated (ADMSs) as disability management specialists should maintain and develop their skills - in order to better serve and deliver assurance to employees and employers. For this purpose, the Commission ensures that the highest quality of continuing education is accessible to expand individual expertise and secure renewal.

The Commission’s renewal requirements are designed to encourage CDMSs to continue their professional education through continuing education by attaining 80 CE clock hours within the five-year period of certification, four (4) of which must be in ethics. ADMSs are required to attain 30 CE clock hours within the three-year period of designation, two (2) of which must be in ethics.

CE Hours from the CDMS Commission
The CDMS Core Knowledge Curriculum now provides a new avenue for attaining continuing education clock hours. Current CDMSs can participate in this online learning program in whole or in part, with the benefit of earning up to 32 CE clock hours.

In the near future, both CDMSs and ADMSs will be able to earn CE hours through CDMS-sponsored webinars and other CDMS Core Knowledge programs.

CDMS Pre-Approval for CE Providers
Providers offering Continuing Education (CE) programs in disability management may obtain CDMS pre-approval in order to promote their program offerings to certified individuals at no additional cost to the certificant. CDMS pre-approval is reviewed and approved for the current calendar year by the Commission. Renewal of pre-approved programs for subsequent years must be resubmitted and meet current criteria in order to be approved by the Commission.

CE providers interested in obtaining organizational approval are invited to submit an application (doc) for pre-approval. The CDMS Manual for Continuing Education Pre-Approval (pdf) provides details on the approval categories, requirements, and process.

A list of CE providers is accessible to CDMS certificants to assist in researching available pre-approved continuing education.
